Boy, I've gotta tell you about prom...both proms that I went to. First off, i'm pretty tired right now because I spent last night partying away, but other than that I'll try my best to write about the two very different proms I went to.
Last saturday, I went to Naperville Central for the suburban prom. It was wonderful. I remember, the day started off perfectly and it seemed as though all my appointments fell into place. I had this great bond with my hair stylist, Jen, who gave me this beautiful romantic-looking do. Later, I drove to Oakbrook to get my make-up done before I slipped into my dress, got picked up by my very sweet date and headed to the house were we would meet the 10 other couples! The whole picture taking process was crazy! There were so many picture hungry parents furiously flashing bright lights into our eyes and telling us to "smile, smile, tilt your head, smile!" Then, it was off to prom! The event was located at this huge dinning hall...man there were so many people there, and it was great to see everyone all dressed up! From then on..it was dance, dance, dance. I've never been so ..well...close up dancing with all these strangers before. It was great, losta fun, losta movement, losta sweat! Afterwards, we were all so tired that we just went to Carina's to chill and watch a movie. I'm glad that we had a laid back night...it was relaxing and nice.
Now, I just had my school's prom! and ...shit! it was da bomb as well. The getting ready process was a lil shaky and crazy chicago weather didn't help. I had to get my make up and hair done all in the city. sigh...losta bucks to look pretty. everything was going smooth sailing until the make-up lady made me yellow!! ...more yellow than my asian self! sriously, just cuz I'm asian doesn't mean I have to be any yellower. anyways, I rushed back to Lauren's where I was getting ready to take off all the foundation around my eyes and lips( which looked great by the way) in order to make myself..well..normal looking again! Then we all met up with our group to take tons of pics! TONS! Natalie's bro, Mike, was going camera happy! They followed our limo all the way down Lake Shore drive - parallel to the car - and snapped photos of us like paparazzi! We had our prom at the Planetarium..and it was awsome! The place where we had dinner and our dance ( my school is a hundred people..so I'm guessing..a lil less than 200 people there..max) was..breathtaking. The sky was clear..and there were large windows that reached from the floor to the ceiling! We were right on the lake, and the Chicago skyline spread out right in front of us! unlike suburban proms, there wasn't much dancing -because of the size of my school ( only 100 people, can you believe it?!) the dance floor looked really sparse most of the time. Instead of dancing, there was lots of shmoozing and mingling amoung people dressed in fashionalbe evening wear. hehe. afterwards, my group drove downtown in the limo. It was pretty windy and chilly, but atleast the sky was clear. We all went to Emma's party afterwards. It was so much fun! I think I stayed up partying till 5-6am before I collapsed with 5 other drunken bodies on Emma's bed. Lauren and I helped clean up the next morning after chowing down some breakfast from Bakery Bonjour.

Compare and contrast? Well- as I said before, the suburban prom was very..well promy. Everyone was dressed in pastel floor length dresses and held nosgays in their hands. There was tons of dancing among strangers in this great ballroom hall. Midiocre food was served. We hung out at a friends house afterwards. Fun with no alcohol =)
Let's see...city prom? There were pre-proms, and people decked out in a lot of black, red, and designer lables. Tons of mingling, awsome city-scape location. Limos. After-party. Keg. Sky vodka. Orange juice.
