I just listened to Jay Chou...on replay -10 times! I didn't even get sick of it!! When I get new cd, I get all excited. I rip open it's flimsy, plastic package and go straight to reading it's lyric book from cover to cover. For instance, the Jay Chou CD came with a book-like extra. In this book, is a number of photographs of Jay as ninja. Apparently, it's some sort of fantasy of his. ( Ivan says that if he ever becomes rich someday, he's gonna make his fantasies come true too) The first couple of pictures are poses of him (all dressed up in a tight 100% cotton suit) in stereotypical ninja poses..but it gets better... it later shows that there are bad guys, considerably ugly asian dudes compared to Jay, who have just captured and tied up a damsel in distress ( she a japanese school girl, complete with plaid skirt, collared shirt, tie, and pig-tails). Jay comes to the rescue and beats up all the bad guys using his super tough nunchuckus and throwing stars. After this victory, he takes off his shirt (yes!) and clutches a cool glass of water. Jay sips the water a la Bruce Lee.... and the girl? Well, she's still tied up.

Holla! For all my underground hip-hop fans, I recommend "i was born with two tongues" a pan-asian spoken word group. I've seen them live ~ invite them to your campus, be inspired. Also, Chi-town Hyde Park ( South Side!) rap group "Typical Cats" from the legendary WHPK University of Chicago Hip-hop radio show, and the theme cd for my school this past year. Don't miss out on the Moutain Brothers. They are definitely worth your time.... but most of all check out the PACIFICS, I would say, after seeing this group perform live, they're my favorite. I'm still trying to get a hold of their cd. Check out their song, "Visions." Download these tunes, or even better, support these artists by buying their cds.
