Mmm, mmm, mmm. Don't you just love shots of pain that also numb half your mouth? Yeah. I just got one of those babies today. And, before I even let my dentist do anything, I freaked out for about a half an hour. I tried calming myself down. You know, breathe in, breathe out. But after a couple minutes of that, breathing just wasn't working for me. I even tried closing my eyes and thinking about a happy place. I don't know about you, but I don't especially enjoy shots injected into any part of my body. Eventually, I figured, what the heck. Let's get this shot-of-freakin'-pain action over with.
Maybe I freaked out a bit too much, because after it happened, it really didn't hurt too much...er...then again I couldn't feel anything at all. I kept my eyes closed through all the drilling, pricking, tapping, and other odd sensations I could scarcely feel. Right now, an hour after getting a filling, the right side of my mouth is still as numb a frozen tv dinner. When I touch my lip, I feel like I'm kneading some sort of lifeless dough-like flesh against my face. Lovely, isn't it? I just thought I'd share and spread the good news. As for now, excuse me, I better go tend to my swollen watermelon of a mouth.
