today (or more accurately, yesterday), i attended my first roof top dinner party in chelsea.  man, it was fantastic - my cousin morgan invited me to check out his current work space and meet his overly artsy/cultured friends.

up on the roof.

it was there that i realized that my craigslist "whoring" had turned into some sort of sick addiction.  even though i've pretty much subleased a place to live, i still enjoy or feel the need to obesessively check c-listings.  in addition, i continue to e-mail people whose sublets i find appealing and make apartment viewing appointments with them.  what's worse is that i actually go to these appointments and pretend that i am a potential subletter looking for a place to live. yes. it's a great way to discover new neighborhoods, meet new people, and learn about new york real estate. morgan and i proceded to go to D.U.M.B.O., Brooklyn to check out a loft owned by an independent artist named kenneth.  kenneth makes crazy wooden fixtures, tables, etc. and DJ's on the side.  D.U.M.B.O. is a wonderful industrialized place - i love it! there's a riverside park around there with breath-taking brooklyn bridge and manhattan views.

rewinding back to friday night, i've become a huge fan of st. mark's place and its' japanese restaurants.  i've eaten at yakitori taisho twice this week already.

Joana and I in front of a demonic racoon.

mmm...yakitori.

despite all this burough and roof top hopping, the upper west side/morningside by Columbia U still remains my favorite gotham neighborhood. i'm trying to find a side job there at a cafe or something. anyway, i plan to check out more brooklyn again tomorrow and another apartment just for kicks!

i learned how to "correctly" pronounce some new words today:

houston, sutphin, greenwich

trying to restrain myself from saying "pop" as much as possible. *sigh* i've already gotten some weird stares - people just don't understand me here.

First day at MTV. I really dislike Times Square - a crazy, packed, tourist-infested place. However, the MTV/Viacom building is beginning to grow on me! I'm on the 25th floor - beautiful city views, trendy, colorful offices, lots of ...TVs?

I'm exhausted from this long day. I definitely need to adjust to my new busy New York schedule. To the New Yorkers out there - I have a new found respect for you. Walking and subway taking is kicking my lazy Midwestern ass.

Celeb siting count: 1 - Jennifer Love Hewitt walked pass me to the elevator. Chris Rock and Adam Sandler were also sited - but from far far away.

...I am still a Craigslist.org whore - make it stop.

Current temporary location: Queens, NY.

The traffic from LaGuardia was mad crazy - all thanks to that damn Yankee/Mets game. It was like the city's way of saying, "Welcome to New York City." Haha, the experience starts here.

now that i think of it, mao was a real fashion trendsetter. who can resist army green and red stars? it's revolutionary.

man, i wish i had bought a commie hat like Taylor back in China. it was hotness. i stole it once when we went for karaoke. good times. too bad he lost it during one of the many nights he was drunk. haha, that ca-razy Taylor! pulled a burned DVD copy of "The Last Samurai" out of his pants once - just like magic.
